Positively Published!

Looking for an interactive and exciting way to reach new readers?

What is a virtual book tour?

A virtual book tour features several bloggers and websites hosting interviews, book excerpts, and guest posts from an author during a specific time period. Virtual book tours allow you to actively engage with those target audiences most likely to be interested in your book.

How do I select which sites I want as part of my tour?
Check out our complete list of host sites. Sites are sorted based on audience demographics. You can target your tour to specific genres and audience age levels by using the site ratings next to each listing. Visit the sites to get a feel for the type of content they cover and then select the ones you want to visit for your tour.

Who can participate?

Any author with a full length novel, non-fiction book, poetry chapbook, or collection of short stories can participate.   Authors marketing individual short stories may not participate in the tour.  For purposes of this program, your book must meet the following requirements:

*Fiction or non-fiction titles, whether representing a single work or a collection of works, must be a minimum of 30,000 words or 50 published pages in length.

*Poetry chapbooks must include a minimum of 20 poems or, in the case of long poems, must be a minimum of 40 published pages in length.

*Book must be available for sale somewhere other than the author's own website (such as Amazon, Smashwords, BN, etc).  Either digital or print books are acceptable.

*Books in the Amazon Select Program may participate, but may not offer excerpts for inclusion in the tour at this time. Please note that because some site hosts are affiliates with other book eretailers, it may be more difficult to schedule tours for books only available on Amazon.

What are my obligations during the tour?

Each host site will request specific content for you that will be posted on its assigned day. For example, they may request a book excerpt, or provide you with a subject on which to write a guest blog post, or send you a list of interview questions to answer and return. Your obligation is to make sure that you provide the host will all requested content in a timely manner so that your tour stop will be ready on it's assigned day.

Once the tour launches, your site hosts may invite you to visit the blog to live chat with visitors or answer questions posted. Please make the time during the tour to visit your hosts and thank them for their time.

How are tours promoted?

Each host site promotes its author appearances in its own way (through subscriber lists, Facebook, Twitter, Google +, etc). We also promote tours through our own Facebook and Twitter feeds. All tours are also cross listed on Goodreads.com.

How much does it cost?

We only charge an administrative fee of $15 to organize a tour. Your tour will feature a minimun of five sites. You won't be billed until we have confirmed at least five sites to participate. Once we confirm the five sites, we will send you an invoice via PayPal. The invoice must be paid before we will finalize your scheduled tour.

Site Ratings (SR):
Site ratings are determined by the host, not Positive Publishing Perspectives. Site ratings clarify the type of content that will be allowed on the site, not neccessarily topics covered. A blogger may review erotica, for example, but not allow actual erotica to be published on the site. Or another blogger may talk about horror fiction in general terms, but still not allow foul language or graphic violence on the site.

E: Everyone (minimal violence, some comic mischief and/or mild language)

T: Teen (violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, infrequent use of strong language)

M: Mature (intense violence, blood and gore, sexual content, strong language)

AO: Adults Only (Graphic and prolonged depictions of sex and violence)

Genre Listings (More may be added):

Children and young adults (YA) Books for children, teens, also educational books for school aged children

Love and Relationships (LR): Chick lit, romances, erotica

General fiction (GF): general interest fiction. Standard mainstream fare.

General non-fiction (GNF): general interest non-fiction. Standard mainstream fare.
